This is a terrific collection of retreat talks given by Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange, the teacher of John Paul II and an expert in the spiritual life. Although many of the talks are clearly directed to those in religious life, much of it addresses issues that are incredibly important to lay-people as well. Fr. Garrigou discusses the path to holiness by means of rooting out inordinate detachment and dedication to prayer as well as the role of mortification and the joy that can be found in taking up one's daily cross by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Excellent book as it relates to the importance of establishing a personal relationship with God. I would recommend it to anybody.
I will recommend this book to those who really want to be saints and to know what the beatific vision is.
