I bought this along with three other travel books (Lonely Planet, and two independents) for my trip to Mexico. It did a sufficient amount of work but like Lonely Planet, several businesses were no longer in business, not up to date information. The two independent provided more relevant information without trapping themselves by not promoting businesses.Overall, it was a step up from Lonely Planet so you won't be disappointed, just double check the businesses before you go. Save yourself some wasted time and money like I did.
We referred to this source frequently during our week long trip to Merida. It contains detailed descriptions of the culture and history of this wonderful historic city, information on restaurants, shopping, side trips, etc. It has a useful map of the main part of Merida. The shopping section explains what the typical products are, how much you should pay, and where to go looking for the individual products, such as hammocks and guayaberas (typical shirts for men.)
I LOVE the Yucatan Peninsula and I have been all over it looking for new adventure but guess what? This book has more options! It's such a good book that when you go there you'll be saddened at the fact you only scratched the surface.
The book arrived on time, and carefully packaged. We will be going to Cancun in a few months, and this book has been a pleasant and useful manner to live it in antecipation for the trip. It is also a good way to think ahead our schedule, and intended places to go and see. I would recommend it to others!
I like Frommer's easy to follow format on crisp white pages. I always look at what he recommends as top sights to see and a suggested itinerary and I have never been disappointed. This has much updated information.
Got it really fast and great and very informative book, prices might be a bit outdated but a must to have guide to explore things on your own, great places to visit and eat out that you would have not known about.
Great price and still had the map intact. It doesn't always come together this way when ordering travel books. Great seller.
The restaurant recommendations for Playa Del Carmen were great. A couple of the addresses weren't accurate for stores in Playa.
