About the Author
David Greentree was born in Portsmouth in 1970. He attended Portsmouth Grammar School, where he developed an interest in military history. He studied for a BA in History at York before taking an MA in War Studies at King's College London and qualifying as a lecturer in Further Education at Cardiff. In 1995 he accepted a commission into the Royal Air Force, and has since served in a variety of locations, including Afghanistan. He is currently working in the Ministry of Defence in London.

While not for the casual reader, if your interest is the Swiss contingents in Napoleon's Grand Armee, this will give you more info than you could ever need. For the painter of military miniatures, the detail of the illustrations and the amount of other information included take care of all your needs.
Although I am a bit bias here since I love anything to do with Swiss troops, I did like the book overall although it was a bit short. I understand Osprey books aren't the "go to" books in terms of pages (most don't go past 96 and few are beyond 128) and this book is only 48 pages long. In my opinion that is a bit to short to get a good idea overall of the Swiss under Napoleon, but with the space limitations, the author does a great job describing them in the space he has.
Very well documented, good companion for the SWISS IN FRENCH SERVICE.- These brave mercenaries deserve praise and recognition. More often than not, they held the first line in the French Armies. The retreating Grand Armé was saved at Beresina by the undefatigable Swiss. Maps and schematic troop deployments would have had certainly made this fine work unbeatable. Maybe with a second edition........
Really enjoyable to read, and details many aspects of Swiss history that is not well known. Great read!
