Nice map but useless for trips to Bryce Canyon where the trails are easy to follow and the NPS provides enough info in their newspaper.If you're buying this to plan a trip to Bryce Canyon you will be disappointed, at least I was.I feel these Nat Geo maps are nice but almost useless. Of course all maps are useful but the cost benefit for this map is not good.
It is a good topo map of the area. Although it states that it is updated regularly, don't believe it. Even though many have noted that there are no mileage, nor good side elevations counters of the trails, they are still not on the maps. You still need to make those up from others sources. No good excuse for that purposeful oversight.
These National Geographic Maps are phenomenal. They feel like a waxy paper but if you try to do a small tear along the edge it stretches instead of tearing like paper so they seem to be made from a plastic paper instead. So that is how they are waterproof and tear proof. I found the detail really good with great hiking information and some geological information on many of these maps.
We went to Utah and visited several National Parks. These maps were great. We did several 15 mile hikes and 40 mile bike rides, without these maps we would have gotten lost. They are very detailed and help you stay on course.
These trails illustrated maps are the first thing I order when I'm traveling to national forest or park to hike and camp. Besides being virtually indestructible they are invaluable with all the information one would need.
Love NGM maps as they are so detailed and helpful for hiking, etc. Purchase them for all the planned vacations as they are full of information and correspond nicely with hiking books and hiking programs like All Trails.
Very good companion to a Bryce Canyon guidebook. The paper quality is excellent and this map will avoid tears and damage due to moisture. It is a good carry-on-the hike companion or as a planning guide to get a feel for the topography of various trails.
This map is a great quality map but the free map at the park provided more detail on some of the more popular trails. If I was backpacking or taking one of the longer hikes I'd bring this along, if not I'd save my money for another SD card because you'll be taking tons of pictures at Bryce.
